Accident on the Capital Beltway: at least five tractors involved.
May 2020 – Road safety is an ongoing concern everywhere, especially for people who work on the move and need to spend a lot of time behind the wheel. Truck drives are often considered an at-risk category because their vehicles are large, and they spend long hours on the job. Sadly, truck-related accidents account for a significant number of casualties and property damage. On April 30, 2020, a rainy Thursday on the Capital Beltway contributed to a massive crash involving five tractor-trailers and a large truck.
The infamous “big curve” has been notorious for contributing to at least ten accidents, only within the span of a few months. Earlier, a tractor-trailer jackknifed, and as a result, it damaged some of the concrete walls. In addition to that, yet another tractor-trailer went through the wall of the bridge. It caused dangerous concrete debris to fall, including some larger chunks. In another unrelated incident, a truck caused a severe fuel leak, which required the intervention of specific clean-up personnel equipped with HAZMAT suits to avoid hazardous health threats.
Precaution on the road is fundamental, but it is also essential to seek legal representation when involved in road accidents, especially in notoriously dangerous areas with a track record of crashes and previous incidents.
